Structural Analysis of Family Support, Motivation for Achievement, Self-esteem and Career Decision Among Youths from Multicultural Family

Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the structural relationship between family support, motivation for achievement, self-esteem, and career decision-making among youths from multicultural family. data were collected from the eight year of the Multicultural Youth Panel from the Korea Youth Policy Institute A total sample of 1,175 participants (n = 579 high school second-year male student; n = 596 female students) were included in data analysis. ts. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS 22.0 and Amos 25.0 statistical programs, and the results were as follows. First, the family support influenced the motivation for achievement and self-esteem. Second, the motivation for achievement influenced self-esteem. Third, the motivation for achievement and self-esteem had an effect on career decision-making. Fourth, there were parallel and double mediating effects of achievement motivation and self-esteem in the relationship between family support and career decision-making. The results of this study provide implications for various programs designed to promote family support, achievement motivation, and self-esteem, and practical policy strategies, with the goals to better inform the career decision-making process for youths from multicultural family.
